How to connect to Safaricom Home Fibre in Mombasa

To connect to Safaricom Home Fibre in Mombasa, first verify coverage in areas like Nyali, Bamburi, Kisauni, Likoni, Changamwe, or Mombasa CBD, where it’s widely available.

Coverage Check

Dial *400# on a Safaricom line, select Fibre Availability, and enter your estate or location for an SMS response. Alternatively, use the MySafaricom App (download from Play Store/App Store), go to Home Fibre, and input your Mombasa address. Visit internet.safaricom.co.ke, call 100 (Safaricom line) or 0722 002 100 (others), or check at a local Safaricom shop with ID and proof of address.

Signup Process

Choose a plan: 10 Mbps (Ksh 2,999/month), up to 100 Mbps (Ksh 12,499). Receive a unique Fibre Account Number via SMS after selection. Pay first month’s fee plus any waived Ksh 3,000 setup via M-PESA Paybill 150501 using that account; bulk payments (3/6/12 months) get discounts.

Installation Steps

A technician schedules a 1-2 hour visit post-payment, installing the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) for fibre signal conversion and connecting the Wi-Fi router. They set default SSID/password (on router sticker) and Ethernet ports. Service activates with an SMS; test speeds at speedtest.net.

Device Connection

Scan the SSID from the router sticker on phones, laptops, or TVs; enter the password. For wired, plug into Ethernet ports. Access router admin at 192.168.100.1 (browser), log in with sticker credentials, then update SSID/password and enable WPA3 for security.

Management Tips

Manage via MySafaricom App: upgrade, pay, or check usage. For issues, email [email protected], call 400, or request relocation (free with your router). In Mombasa’s humid climate, ensure good ventilation for the ONT/router.
